Trailer of ArtRose dance film "In a Landscape"

ArtRose is a community of Dresden citizens who have come together to explore the expressive and artistic possibilities of aging through weekly dance practice and performance.

The members of the ensemble, mostly dance amateurs 60+, unite with professional dance artists and teachers, musicians and students to share a contemporary form of improvised expressive dance.

The director of the ensemble, Prof. Jenny Coogan invites each individual to recognize and to develop her own creative potential with myriad strategies of dance improvisation and encourages an atmosphere that allows for a heightened consciousness for the interactive process of the group to arise.

The productions and workshops of the dance ensemble ArtRose are intergenerational and always arise as a joint venture in the creative process.

ArtRose is thus a community of communicative action and thus an answer to the individualization in society.

Through personal and collective responsibility and distributed power the ArtRose members are empowered to engage with openness and wholeheartedness to support the community’s continuity.

All are invited to enter into relation through dance, to experience the grace of being met.

A primary aim of the ArtRose ensemble is to promote the dialogue between the generations and through its activities to instil a higher appreciation of older people in society, so that artistic work with seniors receives greater recognition and appreciation in the social consciousness.
